Assessing the effectiveness of using Orchestra for K-12 schools

In 2021/2022, the Stride Group conducted a pilot study involving 7 schools to assess the effectiveness of using the Orchestra Master Scheduler. The study yielded positive results, including a higher retention rate, higher academic gains, and improved attendance in class connections.

The schools attributed these positive outcomes to the use of Orchestra, particularly the practice of providing students with their schedules prior to the start of the school year in the form of a PDF. Hear what Cody Mathers, Senior Manager for School Operations at Stride, has to say about these findings.

Orchestra is a suitable solution for schools of any type. Although it may require initial investment, it can yield substantial dividends in the long run.

Cody recommends Orchestra as an excellent option for schools seeking a scheduling system. This software minimizes conflicts and simplifies the scheduling process. Orchestra provides a logic-based system that allows schools to generate the best possible schedule for their students. If conflicts arise, the software easily identifies them, enabling proactive intervention to support students rather than reactive responses.

Cody shared with us an incredible success story from the Orchestra Pilot at Stride. There was a high school with a student population ranging from 1000 to 1500 students. For several years, the school had been grappling with the challenge of devising a schedule that could meet all their unique needs. They experimented with different approaches year after year, desperately searching for the best solution. Cody suggested trying Orchestra, and it was able to figure out the ideal schedule for the school. Cody states, “It worked so well that the school decided to adopt Orchestra for Semester 2 of the 2021/2022 academic year.”

When asked what it is like working with the QuickSchools team, Cody said that it has been a great experience. QuickSchools has consistently displayed a high level of responsiveness and helpfulness. In fact, the support has been so exceptional that he hasn't needed to reach out as frequently as he would have with other vendors. This speaks volumes about the proactive approach and the importance QuickSchools places on ensuring customer satisfaction.

Cody offers valuable advice to schools contemplating a Master Scheduler solution, stating “It doesn't hurt to have a conversation with the Orchestra team.” Simply express your needs and let them know what you're looking for.

In fact, schools that have partnered with Orchestra have experienced remarkable success rates. As Cody states, “By having that initial conversation and considering Orchestra as a potential solution, you may discover a powerful tool that can lead to meaningful advancements and positive transformations for your students.”
